Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

In 2005, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimated that 20 million people in the United States have the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and that six million new cases occur every year.  Of this number, it is estimated that 74% of the new cases occur in 15-24 year olds.

To help protect against cervical cancer and genital warts caused by HPV, Bend Obstetrics and Gynecology offers the GardasilŪ HPV Vaccination for girls and women between the ages of 9-26.  The HPV Vaccination can protect against HPV virus 6, 11, 16 and 18.  This vaccine consists of three injections given over a period of six months.   If you are interested in a consultation to discuss the HPV vaccine, please call our office and make an appointment with one of our providers (541) 385-8050.
